Quappenzucht




Im November fiel hier in Costa Rica viel Regen und diese Zeit lässt es oft zu Dendrobaten und andere neotropische Frösche zu sehen und zu entdecken .In kleinen Wasseransammelungen fanden wir nun auch öfter Quappen, die wir nicht immer ihrer Art zuordnen konnten. Wir haben dann damit begonnen einen Teil dieser Quappen einzufangen, ohne Kescher war dies aber nicht immer so einfach .Wir brachten die gesammelten Quappen aus den umliegenden Gebieten zu unserem Projekthauptsitz am Hone Creek um sie dort weiter zu züchten und bei ihrwer Entwicklung beobachten zu können.Fischfutter wurde hier von den kleinen quappen gerne und gierig als Nahurng angenommen.Laich des Rotaugenfrosches(Agalychnis Callidryas) konnten wir an einem Tümpel in der Nähe von Cahuita finden und nahmen es samt Blatt mit.Michael Stifter und seine Frau kamen im Dezember zu uns und brachten uns Kescher und ein Diktiergerät mit ,womit wir versuchen wollen die Froschlaute aufzuzeichnen.Wir möchten uns nochmals für diese nette Geste bei Michael und seiner Frau bedanken.


Wasserbehälter
Die Behälter haben wir immer mit dem Wasser gefüllt in dem wir die Quappen gefunden haben und in das Wasser Kakaoblätter und Lotuspflanzen gelegt, da man diese auch sehr oft an den natürlichen Plätzen der Tiere finden kann.Leider haben wir momentan keine Messgeräte zur Verfügung um die Wasserwerte zu messen.

Der Rotaugenlaubfrosch (Agalychnis callidryas) bewohnt die Regenwälder Costa Ricas . Er ist ein Baumkronenbewohner, der nur nach ergiebigen Regenfällen und zur Fortpflanzung nach unten steigt. Deshalb findet man die Tiere auch verhältnismäßig selten außerhalb der Regenzeiten.

Wir bieten auch aus unserer Gärtnerei verschiedene Nutz und Zierpflanzen und deren Samen an . Nacht Wanderungen und Tagesführungen durch den Dschungel , in dem es to observe many animals such as monkeys, sloths, birds, iguanas, snakes, insects, fish and caimans are!
The 6 ha site has lit jungle trails, streams and a pond which is inhabited by two alligators.
